Umosia (Marshall Jefferson & Roy Davis Jr) - We are Unity

We are Unity, and all we want is your body, we will make you feel tranquility, keep moving your mind in and out, cos’ that’s what we’re about…

The year was 1990, and two young pioneers of a fledgling house music scene, Marshall Jefferson and Roy Davis Jr, joined forces under the alias of Umosia to set about creating one of house music’s finest moments in time, creating the genre defining, cult, soulful house music classic ‘We are Unity'. . .

A beautiful fusion of understated soulful piano, punchy bass line hook, riding flute and vocal lead, along side subtle, tribal percussion and underpinned by solid drum patterns and panning delays... We are Unity is a pinnacle example of what went on to be recognised as underground soulful, vocal house music, and has long since stood proud as a landmark house music production, the likes of which sound fresh, even by today’s production standards.

So beautifully apt and timeless is the core message of the accompanying vocal hook, that it has become synonymous with house music devotees the world over, as a mantra to the unifying driving force behind the house music movement and its sprawling sub culture of both then and now…. We are Unity, and all we want is your body, we will make you feel tranquility, keep moving your mind in and out, cos that’s what we’re about...
